G-Funk President discusses the Dragon Gate USA pay-per-view, comments on newly signed WWE wrestler Bryan Danielson, and former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick

The President of G-Funk Sports and Entertainment, Ken Gelman, joined "Your Home Of Wrestling Radio" this week to discuss the upcoming Dragon Gate USA "Enter The Dragon" Pay-Per-View, premiering this Friday night (September 4th). Ken began his return to the program by talking about the Dragon Gate promotion, for those who were not familiar with the product:

"They are going to see a great card. Enter The Dragon is the first PPV event from Dragon Gate USA. Many in the wrestling world know about the Dragon Gate promotion over in Japan. They have been going since the early 2000's and are at the point where they are doing 250-300 shows a year in their home country. A few of the stars from Japan have come over with Ring Of Honor, so North American fans has a little but of a taste, but not the full blast."

Many fans have not seen some these stars wrestle and perform before, so Ken shed a little light on what they will have the chance to see when they order "Enter The Dragon" on their cable or satellite provider. "What they are going to see is what we like to say, 'Today's Best Wrestling, Tomorrow's style.' You're going to see the most athletic, innovative talent in the wrestling world today. It's not some empty hyperbole, it is real.

"And when the fans see 'Enter The Dragon' on Friday, they're going to see the best wrestling today, some innovative, cutting-edge style that is rarely seen over here. And the exciting thing Dragon Gate USA if fans are going to be able to follow. It's only going to be six shows a year, so for a very little investment and very affordable, fans will be able to follow every angle, every storyline, every match for quite a little bit of money."

Coming up this coming Sunday, Dragon Gate USA will run their first show in Chicago, "Open The Untouchable Gate," which will feature one of the last independent appearances for "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, who signed a WWE contract within the past several weeks. Ken was asked by Mosh and Blade asked about DGUSA's "Windy City" debut and working with Danielson in the past with ROH. "Bryan is probably one of the favorite wrestlers of mine that I have had the pleasure of working with. He's a class act, he's known as the best wrestler in the world, he is the best technical wrestler I have ever seen. And he has accomplished everything in his career so far."

As "The American Dragon" is now officially headed to World Wrestling Entertainment, one of the WWE's best high-flyers in recent memory, (The) Brian Kendrick was "future-endeavored" earlier this summer. The WWE's potential loss is now DGUSA's gain, as Brian recently signed with Dragon Gate USA, and will compete this Sunday night in Chicago against one of DGUSA's finest in CIMA. "Brian Kendrick, what can I say," said Gelman. "He is such a great talent, and now going up against Shima, who has been doing this for almost a decade in Dragon Gate. So these two great talent and styles, people are going to be in store for a phenomenal match on Sunday."

Mosh asked Ken if he believes Kendrick has to "prove the critics wrong" and if Brian has anything personally to prove since parting ways with the WWE. "Brian is a proud wrestler, and obviously he has been a WWE (Tag Team) Champion in the past, and he's performed at every level. If you remember, he came on the scene with Danielson, London, and those guys took the indy world by storm. And he has done so much at the highest level, so to go up against the international talent in Dragon Gate USA, he has a lot to prove to the fans, he has something to prove to himself that he go against an icon and great talent like CIMA."

Ken also went on-record with even more Dragon Gate USA discussion, including his candid thoughts on how he believes DGUSA will differ from the Ring Of Honor product, as well as a message to all of the "armchair quarterbacks" that believe Japanese wrestling will not "get over" in the United States.

Want to be the first to hear about future Dragon Gate USA shows and learn about the promotion's roster? Looking to purchase tickets to the 9/6 "Open The Untouchable Gate" event? (featuring an autograph session with WWE Hall Of Famers, Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler). It's simple: Check out the official website of Dragon Gate USA, located at www.dgusa.tv. Don't forget to order "Enter The Dragon," debuting this Friday night on Pay-Per-View! Want the perfect endorsement, just listen to the words of The Mayhem's very own Big Mosh, Blade, and "Chairman Of The Board" Todd Vincent: "Some of the best action inside a squared circle you will ever see...From an in-ring perspective, one of the top five Pay-Per-Views of all-time! Talk about your 'bang for the buck' in the month of September!"
