Interview Highlights
TNA X Division Champion Homicide looks back on his past with Samoa Joe before their pay-per-view match on Sunday, discusses the success of C.M. Punk in WWE, and his partner Hernandez as a singles wrestler
Aug 13, 2009 - 09:33 AM

Monday Night Mayhem radio with Homicide
Hosts: Big Mosh, Blade, Bill Brown
Available at MondayNightMayhem.com.

"The Notorious 187" and the reigning TNA X-Division Champion, Homicide, was welcomed back to The Mayhem by Mosh, Blade, and MNM's National TNA Correspondent, "Wild" Bill Brown, as members of the TNAtion are indeed counting down the hours to this Sunday night's Hard Justice Pay-Per-View. As part of TNA's all Hardcore Rules event, Homicide will not only defend the only of The LAX, but his title against a man who is no stranger to working with over the years (going back to their days in Ring Of Honor), "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe. Homicide is eagerly looking forward to his return match against Joe, several weeks after their brief encounter on iMPACT, but this time...it's personal yet within the confines of the six-sided ring.

"It's been a blessing in disguise with my first singles title in the X-Division. I've been doing the tag team thing in TNA for three years. The last time I was Heavyweight Champion in singles competition was Ring Of Honor, and this is my first time in three or four years as a singles competitor. Right now a lot of people think the X-Division means the cruiserweights, I'm thinking it's about no limits, and that's where comes into play. Me and Joe got a little history back in the days in Ring Of Honor. A lot of people don't know about our feud, but believe or not, you're going to have a big bang when it comes to a Pay-Per-View called Hard Justice, featuring Homicide vs. Samoa Joe, and this time, I will be the champion."

On the facing Samoa Joe again: "It's been about five years that I didn't wrestle Samoa Joe. I got great respect for him. He knows that I am the only man in the wrestling world to give the 1-2 punch, I'm the hardest guy to 'em."

While they did feud in Ring Of Honor, Joe did not have the services of one Taz in those matches. How does Homicide feel about him being at ringside, and what happens if he gets involved? "To be honest with you, I love Taz being in his corner because right now, everyone knows that not only do I represent the Latin country of Puerto Rico, but also I'm from Brooklyn, NY. Now this man is also from Brooklyn. My school is called the 'Doghouse' wrestling school, and across the street was his high school, and I had a bunch of his friends telling me stories about him. So I think I am the only person that knows Taz's secrets. So Taz could bring his 13, FTW whatever you wanna call it because I'm gonna bring the LAX, I'm gonna bring The Latin Nation. So the ECW Taz, even when he was commentator for the WWE, it doesn't scare me at all."

With the major singles push of both him and his tag team partner Hernandez, "Wild" Bill Brown wanted to know about the future of The LAX as a tag team. "To be honest, that's my brother, my best friend, and The LAX is forever. Right now we made a agreement, a pact that The LAX would be on the side just for a little while. We made a agreement that we want to do singles competition, and I would love to see him be the first Latino TNA Heavyweight Champion. Right now, we saw two great Latino champions in Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, even though he is a cruiserweight, but he captured the Heavyweight Title. I'm thinking that Hernandez will be perfect for that belt, and I will support at the end of the day. Right I would like to be on my own feet."

Fellow Ring Of Honor alum, CM Punk, is seeing much success in World Wrestling Entertainment, as he is currently feuding with Jeff Hardy over the World Heavyweight Championship. With Homicide seeing singles success in TNA, Mosh asked how he feels about seeing Punk and himself seeing so much success simultaneously. "Yes I'm happy...big shout-out to CM Punk. I did a lot of battles with CM Punk as matter of fact, Punk never beat me in Ring Of Honor, but I think it's really cool, and we are great friends. Me, Samoa Joe, and CM Punk were 'the three kings' of Ring Of Honor, and capturing all the gold in TNA and WWE. I think that's a blessing in disguise and one of the coolest things ever in pro-wrestling."

Four years after his debut in TNA Wrestling, Homicide has been involved in some very memorable matches and has experienced moments in the ring that will last a lifetime, and was asked by The Mayhem Crew for his three biggest career-defining TNA moments, as well as his feeling about being a member of the TNA roster. "First of all when me and my partner captured the NWA World Tag Team Titles...We were the first Latins to capture the NWA Titles. The second was teaming up with Hector Guerrero. And finally was capturing the X-Division Title."

More is contained in this exclusive Mayhem interview with the former ROH World Heavyweight Champion, including Homicide's candid thoughts on whether or not he was upset after not getting the chance to wrestle at the Victory Road PPV, why The LAX would not be possible without Konnan, how The LAX is "the Wu-Tang Clan of professional wrestling," and if we have indeed seen the last of him full-time in Ring Of Honor. Remember the numbers 5150 Mayhem Nation! Get ready to feel The Mayhem with "The Notorious 187" Homicide, as part of "The Summer Of Mayhem 2009."
