Interview Highlights
Sharmell comments on her critically panned match with TNA celebrity Jenna Morasca, says Booker T is the most decorated wrestler of all time
Jul 30, 2009 - 10:05 AM

Hosts: Big Mosh, Blade, Bill Brown

The Main Event Mafia's Sharmell joined The Mayhem this week, coming off of the heels of TNA's Victory Road PPV and as fans across the globe gear up for this Thursday night's 200th edition of Impact. It has been almost two years since Sharmell and her husband (Booker T) joined TNA, and while some said that he would not last there, Booker (along with Sharmell) have proved the naysayers wrong and is now one-half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions (w/Scott Steiner).

"It does not seem like two years, time is just flying by but it tends to fly by when you're having fun. (The) Mafia came in, Booker came in, and starting ruling from Day 1. It's just been fun, and (the) critics...we don't mind critics. They keep us going. Nobody ever thought my husband's career would last this long, but he is the most-decorated wrestler in history, so that just shuts all the critics up. and we're happy to keep going do what we love to do, and he's got gold around hs waist once again."

At the Victory Road Pay-Per-View earlier this month, Sharmell faced off against fellow Main Event Mafia member/TNA Knockout, Jenna Morasca, in a match that was not well-received by both fans and critics alike. Jenna has had the chance to respond publicly already...and through "Your Home Of Wrestling Radio," now is the time for Sharmell to speak her peace.

"Actually that's my first time hearing it, because I hadn't heard any critique on that. We've been working every since Victory Road, so I hadn't heard any of the feedback of that, but if they think it was the 'worst match,' that's great. All publicity is good publicity, so at least they are still talking about me. Even though I didn't get the pin, I was obviously the most-experienced, the one who was able to handle herself the best in the ring, and got the better of Jenna throughout the match. So let them keep talking...any news is good news."

Last Thursday on Impact, Traci Brooks won a Knockouts Battle Royal to become the newest member of The Main Event Mafia. And as many fans of TNA are now aware of, Traci will be gracing the cover of Playboy later this fall. Is there currently any heat between the newest Knockout within The MNM and Sharmell, or does the wife of Booker T foresee any into the future?

"The difference between Jenna and Traci is that Traci is the original Knockout. It makes sense for her to be in The Mafia. Traci and I have had our differences, but we've also had our good times together in the two years I've been here, but I have respect for her, because she was the one that started it all. Jenna is someone that bought her way in, so the relationship between Jenna and me is kinda rocky right now. Traci and I have a relationship that's more on a solid ground, and I can at least respect her being in The Mafia."

Based on the Victory Road feedback, the overwhelming criticism from TNA's "armchair quarterbacks," and Sharmell not having many chances (to this point in time) to wrestle on Impact or on TNA Pay-Per-View's, "Wild" Bill Brown asked Sharmell where she sees herself going from here (with regards to her in-ring future) and if she would like to get inside TNA's six-sided ring more often. "I leave everything open. I really don't see myself being involved in the Knockouts division, but whatever is necessary, I get it done. If I need to strap on my boots and get it done, that's what I do. But the main thing is to be the support behind The Mafia now."

As a current member of the TNA roster and someone who left World Wrestling Entertainment to move on with her future endeavors/career, The Mayhem Crew wanted to know if Sharmell had anything to say on record to those currently still with the WWE who are unhappy and/or who are thinking of making a jump to TNA. "What I would say to those people in the WWE is to be prepared to have fun if you come here. Wrestling is what we love to do, and when you are doing what you love to do and having fun without any extra drama, it's just great."

More is contained in this exclusive interview with Sharmell, including her candid thoughts on Booker T and Scott Steiner's upcoming TNA World Tag Team Title Match at TNA's Hard Justice against Team 3-D (and the history between all four competitors), if she believes Ken Anderson (Mr. Kennedy) will be headed to TNA this fall (and whether or not she feels he would make a great addition to the current roster), if she has stayed in touch with the original WCW Nitro Girls, and if what she feels the chances are of seeing a Nitro Girls reunion. We strongly encourage you to check out the official website of Booker T and Sharmell (and their PWA wrestling school) at www.BookerTPWA.com.
