As many fans of Booker's and TNA know, Booker is slated to tag up with his fellow Main Event Mafia teammate, Scott Steiner and challenge Beer Money Inc. for the TNA World Tag Team Titles this Sunday at Victory Road. If Booker is victorious, this will be his 15th World Tag Team Title of his illustrious career. Going into the bout, Booker is focused now more than ever, with a chance to have gold around his waist one more time. "Everything is being tuned up at the right time here with myself and Scott. Getting granted this Tag Team Title shot, we are going to go out there and make the best of it and put one more in the hat."
The Main Event Mafia has become the strongest faction on TNA Wrestling, if not in pro-wrestling today. From its beginnings back in Las Vegas on the live edition of Impact, a few changes have occurred, and The Mafia is still strong, if not stronger. "That's what the Mafia is all about. It was never about one person in the group, it was about the group. Sting didn't want to play the game the way we wanted to play it. Right now, we're in takeover mode as far as TNA goes. We're here to take over TNA and make the best thing it could possibly be and put us on the map. Sting didn't want to do that, he wanted to be 'Mr. Nice Guy.' So out goes Sting, in comes Samoa Joe, a young lion who really wants to make a mark, make a name for himself. And who better to it with than Scott Steiner, Big Kev (Nash), myself along with Kurt Angle."
Booker's history is filled with singles titles, but his beginnings (along with Scott Steiner) are rooted in the tag team division. Mosh and Blade asked Booker about his feelings about being back in tag team wrestling again, with the chance for another title reign on the line. "The gold is one thing, but the history is another. Myself and Scott (Steiner), we both came from two legendary tag teams (Harlem Heat and The Steiner Brothers), and now, (we are) given the chance to out there put those two differences in those teams into the same formula. I think that's going be a concoction that's totally going to take over TNA."
With Booker's travels with WCW, WWE, and now TNA, there are some differences and some similarities about the promotions, and Booker was asked about the in-ring perspectives and what he expects from that and the business side of it. "I look at this side of my career as the beginning of the end of the beginning. Here in TNA, it has been totally different from anything in my career because it's a different era. Starting out in WCW, wrestling guys that I seen on television for years, and then going to the WWE and wrestling guys that I always wanted to get a chance to wrestle. Now wrestling here in TNA, being with a bunch of guys who were my age when I first started this, and still being able to keep up and stay on top. That's been the challenge for me more than anything. I really think it's the greatest part of my career."
As been rumored for sometime now, Taz is set to make his debut in TNA this Sunday at Victory Road, and some are saying that Ken Anderson (the former Mr. Kennedy) is next on the radar for TNA. Blade asked Booker about these possible additions and what they can mean for the company for their long-term growth. "The addition to TNA will be great for those guys who make an appearance here. I really don't know the status of either of those guys are, but I would welcome Kennedy, Anderson...whatever he calls himself. I would welcome Taz to TNA. TNA is a growing company, the new thing on the block. A lot of time people want to check out the new flavor and see what this new thing is all about."
More is contained in this exclusive Mayhem interview with Booker T, including if he foresees himself closer to retirement (and if he is leaning towards becoming a road agent, emulating "Black Snow" and going behind the mic as a color-commentator, or if he will be continuing to work in training the future stars of tomorrow as part of Booker T's Pro-Wrestling Academy), what he says to wrestlers considering the jump to TNA (from the WWE), and all of the information on how to join his wrestling school.
