Cary Silkin said that he appreciates the return invitation and the fact that The Mayhem has been supporting ROH for over six years now.
As ROH celebrated its sixth anniversary just a few short weeks ago, Mosh kicked off the interview by asking Cary about the feeling in the ROH locker room, especially with regards to the extensive talent that is showcasing their abilities over the past few months, and the trickle-down effect as to the reaction from the fans from the growth of the company. Cary said that there "is a good vibe" right now in Ring Of Honor. "Nobody slacks," and everyone has been working 110 percent. From a fan perspective, he continues to believe that those who have gone to ROH shows have not gone home disappointed in any way, as each event is treated special in their own right.
Cary is very much looking forward to the "Rising Above" PPV this weekend, mainly in part not only to the fantastic wrestling the fans are going to be able to see, but because the setting of the PPV is New York City's Manhattan Center. He compares this venue to being in the old Roman Coliseum. The fans were loud, the finished product looked good, and he was very proud from a production standpoint. "It is out best pay-per-view to date, and the proof will be in the pudding." Not to mention, the wrestling fans will not be disappointed from a cost perspective, as you can purchase "Rising Above" at various times this month for $15.00.
The Mayhem Crew reminds the world-wide listening audience about ROH's double-shot weekend in Orlando, FL, as part of the WrestleMania XXIV weekend. The fans that will be a part of these two events at the end of March will be coming in from all over the world, according to Cary. "It's going to be a hell of a weekend," especially with the return of the guys from Dragon Gate. Mosh asked Cary if their is any trepidation about running against not only the WWE, but TNA that weekend, to which Silkin replied in an uber-positive fashion: "We are all about this."
Ring Of Honor will be heading to The Baker Theatre next weekend in Dover, N.J. in conjunction with the new Darren Aronofsky-directed film, "The Wrestler," starring Mickey Rourke. Cary said that the choice of the venue was mainly chosen by the film's crew, and the most-pivotal ending scene of the movie will be shot there, where Rourke's character will be facing his old nemesis in his final match. Again, Cary strongly believes that the fans who will be in attendance will be pleased.
Next month in Chicago, IL & Detroit, MI, the ROH audience will have the opportunity to see the returning Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley—The Motor City Machine Guns. Cary is very excited to see both guys return to the company. "They are hard-working guys," replied Cary, and he feels the fans will not be let down—especially since many thought they would not be able to come back to ROH.
There have also been rumors saying that Samoa Joe and some other TNA talent might be returning to the company in some fashion later this year, along with former WWE/ECW Champion Rob Van Dam. Cary's take on this: "There is no confirmation on anyone else. The doors are always open, and the bridges never close. Anything can happen."
Remember fans: This weekend is the PPV premiere of ROH "Rising Above" on iN-DEMAND, The DISH Network, & TVN cable systems. Everyone will be raving about the Nigel McGuinness vs. Austin Aries World Title Match after this evening. Make sure to catch a surefire match of the year candidate on what promises to be one of the best PPVs this year! You can now watch a free teaser at www.ROHVideos.com or on YouTube at www.YouTube.com/watch?v=wRpD9HKUyk8. Call your local cable or satellite provider for availability.
Cary also gave his uncensored takes & thoughts on ROH's debut @ The Manhattan Center this upcoming May, the soon-to-be-released ROH retail "Stars Of Honor" & "Bloodstained Honor" DVD's through KOCH, and how you fans witness the physical & literal "breaking of the bread" with The Mayhem and ROH next weekend in "The Garden State.
