World Wrestling Insanity interview with Bruce Hart

Bruce made headlines last year when he spoke about Chris Benoit's mental state. Many were surprised by how honest he was about Chris, someone he trained. However, that's nothing compared to his thoughts on brother Bret. Citing quotes from his book, "Shoot First…Ask Questions Later," James Guttman mentions how Bret sometimes had a tough time separating from his character. In fact, he may have been too protective of his spot in the eyes of some who worked with him. Bruce responded:

"I'm not trying to criticize. It's obvious he has his good side, you know. He's a great worker. Had a lot of respect for the business and what else, you know. I remember when I was first breaking in the business, one of the first things I was ever told was 'don't become a mark for yourself.' That's kind of one of the cardinal rules. And that's pretty much what he did. It's even more disconcerting that he grew up in the business and should have had a handle on it, you know? You're almost amazed that he seems to forget it was a work. Even the Montreal thing, you know. It was certainly not handled well by Vince (McMahon). Not very well orchestrated, but at the same time, it goes without saying that when the office tells you they want you to drop the strap, it's part of business. It's like Mr. T in Rocky 3 saying 'I can't do the job, Sylvester (Stallone). On second thought, I'm too over to drop the strap.'"

James agrees and says that it's unfortunate that someone who did as much as Bret Hart did in his career sometimes seems like he has a hard time enjoying it. Bruce speaks at length about his family including his father and misconceptions about how he ran his family. Plus, details on the new book he's working on.
