Former WWE wrestler Orlando Jordan comments on Michael Hayes's suspension and his upcoming match against Ultimate Warrior
May 30, 2008 - 09:40 AM

Monday Night Mayhem radio
Hosts: Big Mosh and Adam
Available at MondayNightMayhem.com.

Orlando Jordan was welcomed by Mosh & Adam to the program, and Jordan was ready to talk about some of his strategy against The Warrior...who he calls "the old crypt" and "a relic." He is very excited to get into the ring with The Warrior, as he was a huge fan of The Warrior growing up & especially for his return to the in-ring competition for the first time in over a decade. He did wish to go on record though saying, "He was not a kid anymore. His time has come and gone." Orlando would love to have the opportunity to retire The Warrior, and possibly put a huge speed bump in his '08 comeback. He is loving the worldwide exposure the match is receiving not only in Europe, but also throughout North American and the rest of the world.

Orlando is very well aware of the buzz amongst the internet, about the speculation as to whether the WWE or TNA will be signing The Warrior very soon. He takes that for what it is—"a rumor." He is not focused on that though, as he is concentrating more on The Warrior coming into "his house" on June 25th in Barcelona, Spain for the NWE World Championship. Jordan did say that both he and The Warrior have at least one thing in common...and that is controversy is a part of their respective careers, and that has helped generate a lot of buzz from the fans around the globe.

Orlando was a very integral part of JBL's "Cabinet," along with The Basham Brothers & Jilian Hall, during his time with World Wrestling Entertainment. There have been plenty of JBL "haters" that have criticized Bradshaw's return to the squared circle. Adam asked for Orlando's thoughts on JBL's comeback and whether his best days may be behind him. Jordan said that he is still very good friends with Brashaw. He has not had much free time to keep up with the current WWE product, nor has he had many chances to see JBL perform since his WWE return. He believes strongly that JBL is what he says he is..."A Wrestling God."

There has also been much talk about the recent suspension of SmackDown writer & WWE mainstay, Michael Hayes's suspension post-WrestleMania XXIV for a reported backstage altercation between himself and Mark Henry. This incident has also sparked speculation as to whether Hayes is a racist, and if the WWE has a legitimate issue when it comes to dealing with racism in their locker room. Mosh and Adam asked Orlando for his thoughts.

Jordan classified the whole situation as being "very unfortunate, "sad," and "a shame." Orlando said that he never had any problems with Hayes, and that the two had a fairly good relationship. He had a lot of respect for Hayes during his time in the WWE, as Hayes gave him some encouraging words while Orlando was in the beginning stages of his career while there. Orlando also said that Mark Henry is a very good friend of his as well. His ultimate take on the situation is that if this story is true, that a suspension is not the only justified thing...that a removal should be considered...barring a full review of the situation. On the overall, Jordan said he can speak for what he saw only, but cannot speak for what happened or may still happen behind closed doors or behind people's backs.

And there is more in this near 35-minute Mayhem "Sweeps" interview -- including Orlando's uncensored thoughts and comments on Rocky Johnson (his original trainer) being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, wrestling in the United States vs. other areas of the world (and whether or not he feels the business is better in other parts of the globe than in North America), which "free agents" he would like to see be a part of the NWE promotion, and if he sees himself returning back to the States anytime soon (for a possible return to the WWE, or even a TNA debut). Orlando holds no punches & nothing back in quite possibly his most openly candid interview in his entire career.
