WWE Smackdown tapings tonight with Edge advertised (correspondents needed), WWE Raw dark matches, John Cena honored, WWE video distribution rights go to Vivendi, WWE Free View with Steve Austin
Sep 15, 2009 - 09:15 AM

-The WWE Smackdown/ECW tapings take place tonight in Hamilton, Ont. at the Copps Coliseum. There are no matches advertised for the show. The arena website lists Edge and Rey Mysterio among the four wrestlers advertised for the show. If you are going to the taping and can file a report, please contact me today at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-Of course, it's possible the arena advertising that lists Edge is dated, but Dot Net reader Kale Sherar points out that his hometown is approximately 40 minutes away from Hamilton. Granted, Edge doesn't live in the area these days, but I suppose it's possible that he would appear on the show. I guess we'll find out tonight.

-In dark matches held prior to Monday's Raw in Toronto, Sheamus beat Jamie Noble, and Christian defeated William Regal to retain the ECW Title. [Thanks to Dot Net readers Mike Beauvais and Ahmed Khokhar]

-John Cena was honored by The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America on Monday as one of the five recipients of the Chris Greicius Celebrity Awards for granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The other award winners were Dave Matthews Band, Baltimore's Charm City Cakes, the Philadelphia Phillies, and New York's Garden of Dream's Foundation. The WWE website story notes that Cena has granted 147 wishes since 2004, which is tremendous. You can read the full story at WWE.com.

-WWE's domestic DVD rights are now in the hands of Vivendi Entertainment, which purchased the assets of Genius Products, Inc. You can read the full press release at Reuters.com.

-COX cable viewers are getting a special "WWE Free View." Dot Net reader Thaddaus Perkins reports: "I believe it's 'Stone Cold September' on the actual WWE Channel you have to subscribe to. They had some of his best Stunners like the one with Jim Ross and a few from the Nation of Domination. They also have the entire 2009 HOF Ceremony, Bret Hart's Ceremony and a few others thing." I'm guessing this is also available on other cable and satellite services, so look around a little and you'll probably find it.

-After an absence of more than a week, the AWA will return to ESPN Classic on Wednesday. Check back tomorrow for the full list of matches.
