WWE Smackdown taping tonight (correspondents needed), a special Smackdown planned, TNA in Australia note, Grandmaster Sexay note, Dutch Mantel back in the ring, Bobby Eaton, Jimmy Hart
Sep 8, 2009 - 09:15 AM

-The WWE Smackdown/ECW tapings take place tonight in Rockford, Ill. WWE has yet to announce any matches for the show. We are looking for correspondents who can file reports on the various tapings. If you can help, please contact me right away at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-Dot Net Members are listening to my 36-minute audio recap of Monday's WWE Raw show. You can access all Dot Net Audio, the ad-free version of the website, the members' forum, and much more for only $5 per month by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.

-ECW on Syfy airs tonight at 9 p.m. CT. Rich Twilling will be covering the show live tonight.

-WWE will be celebrating a "Decade of Smackdown" on the Oct. 2 show. The WWE website is already building it up with some fun features that you can check out at the WWE.com Smackdown site.

-Dot Net reader Kristyan D'Aprano sent the following note regarding TNA's upcoming tour of Australia: "It is interesting to note re: TNA's Australia tour that the Impact show is show very late Saturday nights and PPVs are live but barely advertised. Their DVDs are finally out but stock always seems to be low at all retailers. The interesting part is that their live tour is taking in the same arenas as WWE when they are here every year.

The old WWA promotion worked the same buildings with mixed success, but they had Sting and Bret Hart headline the odd show. The Road Dogg-Jarrett shows didn't pull so well from memory. This will be an interesting test of Kurt Angle's pulling power since, unless Nash, Booker and Foley come down, he will be the only really mainstream name. Personally I'll be looking forward to it, especially if it contains Sabin, Styles and Joe who have all been here before and been awesome."

-Grandmaster Sexay was back in the ring over the weekend despite his recent legal issues. He defeated Dutch Mantel in the main event of the Memphis Wrestling event at the Delta Fair on Saturday. Other notable results include Eugene over Buddy Landell, and Bobby Eaton over Mr. Hughes. Legendary manager Jimmy Hart managed Eaton, and Dave Wills was with Hughes.

-The AWA show will not air on ESPN Classic until Sept. 14. We'll resume running the match listings for the shows that morning.
