Brock Lesnar on ESPN, Jim Ross Q&A, former WWE wrestler Kevin Thorn interviewed, Honky Tonk Man and Bushwhacker Luke, AWA on ESPN Classic match listings for two shows
By Jason Powell Aug 5, 2009 - 09:00 AM

-I'll be out most of the day, so Rich Twilling is holding down the fort while I'm away. If you have any news items today, please send them to Rich at dotnetrich@gmail.com.

-The Brock Lesnar on ESPN "E:60" piece was nothing new. It was a recap of the previous interview he did with ESPN with some fresh commentary and new highlights. Basically, ESPN is just trying to capitalize on the Lesnar hype. Brief comments from Bill Goldberg and Bret Hart were included. The reporters questioned whether UFC was just expanding on the Vince McMahon model and referred to Brock as UFC's first heel. Apparently, they've never heard of Tito Ortiz or other heels who came before him.

-Dot Net Members will be listening to the 44-minute, first-part of the Q&A audio session in which I answered their pro wrestling questions each week. Today's topics include John Cena and Cryme Tyme, why Evan Bourne is allowed to perform the Shooting Star Press, and much more. You can access all Dot Net Audio on the ad-free version of the site for only $5 per month by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.

-Jim Ross answered another round of reader questions on his website over the weekend. The topics include Shawn Michaels, broadcasting football after his wrestling career, Scott Steiner, and more. You can read them all at JRsBarBQ.com.

-Absolute Wrestling Radio featured an interview with former WWE wrestler Kevin Thorn and a rundown of the UFC 101 show. You can check it out at MWR.Podomatic.com.

-Honky Tonk Man and Bushwhacker Luke are scheduled to sign autographs on Thursday night in Manhattan, Ill. at Gallagher's Pub. The address of the bar is 160 E North St. [Thanks to Frank Reznik]

-The following matches are listed for the 2:00 p.m. CT airing of the AWA on ESPN Classic: Brad Rheingans vs. DeHaas, Col. DeBeers vs. Knight, Sgt. Slaughter vs. Earthquake Ferris, Pat Patterson vs. Bruiser Brody, Buddy Rose and Doug Somers vs. The Midnight Rockers. The show was taped on March 31, 1986.
