-WWE Smackdown will be taped tonight in San Jose, California at SAP Center. The advertised talent pool for the SummerSlam go-home show features Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, The Shield, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Wade Barrett, Big E Langston, AJ Lee, and Wade Barrett.

-We are looking for correspondents for tonight's WWE Smackdown taping in San Jose, California and Thursday's TNA Impact Wrestling TV event in Norfolk, Virginia. If you are going to the show or a weekend live event and want to be our correspondent, hit me up at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-WWE is holding a SummerSlam press conference today at 11:00 a.m. PST at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event will be broadcast on the WWE website. Join me for live coverage of the event as it airs at 1:00 p.m. CT.

-Former AWA and WWE star Jim Brunzell is 64 today. He was born on August 13, 1949. Brunzell was a successful tag team wrestler as one-half of the High Flyers with Greg Gagne in the AWA, as well as one-half of the Killer Bees with B. Brian Blair in WWE. He was also extremely pleasant to a young, autograph seeking Jason Powell many years ago.

-Matt Hyson (a/k/a Spike Dudley, Brother Runt) is 43 today. He was born on August 13, 1970. Did you know Hyson was an elementary school teacher prior to his run in pro wrestling?

-The late Brian Adams (a/k/a Crush) died on this date in 2007.

-The late Lance Cade (a/k/a Lance McNaught) died on this date in 2010. He died at age 29 of apparent heart failure. His death was ruled accidental and the medical examiner stated that intoxication from mixed drugs complicated a cardiomyopathy and caused his death.

-The NWA Smoky Mountain "Fire on the Mountain" event was held on Saturday in Kingsport, Tennessee at the Civic Auditorium with the following results: Elliot Russell beat Cody Matthews, Jeff Connelly beat Alyx Winter in a submission match to win the NWA Southern TV Title, Lance Erickson and Damien Wayne beat Daniel Mulligan and Cody Blade to retain the NWA Southern Tag Titles, Shynron beat Sigmon, Gavin Darling and Skylar Kruze beat Matt Conrad and Nick Hammonds in a ladder match to win the NWA Tennessee Tag Titles, Vince Brent beat NWA Mountain Empire Champion Josh Crawford by DQ, Rob Conway beat Chris Richards by DQ to retain the NWA Championship, NWA Smoky Mountain Champion Jason Kincaid beat Chase Owens to become the NWA Jr. Hvt. Champion.

-ESPN Classic has a block of Global Supercard Wrestling listed from 6:00 p.m. that will run until 1:00 a.m. CT. There are no matches or talent listed.
