WWE Smackdown taping in Boston (correspondents needed), three big stars advertised, Scott Hall surgery, WWE and the Special Olympics, Rock's next movie stirring up controversy
Apr 9, 2013 - 09:00 AM

By Jason Powell

-The WWE Smackdown taping takes place tonight in Boston, Massachusetts at TD Garden. John Cena is advertised as making a hometown appearance, and Triple H was announced in the Raw spot for Friday's television show as making his first appearance since WrestleMania 29.

-We are looking for correspondents for tonight's Smackdown television taping and Thursday's TNA television event in Corpus Christi, Texas. If you are going to the show and want to help, contact me right away at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-Dot Net Members are listening to my 53-minute audio review of Monday's WWE Raw television show. They are also listening to the two-hour audio review of WrestleMania 29 that featured former WWE creative team member Seth Mates joining Chris Shore and I to discuss the biggest show of the year, and new interviews with former WWE creative team member Court Bauer, Matt Hardy, Justin Credible, and Les Thatcher. Join us on the ad-free version of the website by signing up for membership now via the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.

-Best wishes to former WWE star Scott Hall, who was scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery this morning. Hall tweeted a photo of an X-Ray of his pacemaker-defibrillator device in his chest. It's a pretty wild image if you've never seen something like this. Check it out at Via.me/-b79qcjs. [Thanks to Dot Net Member Chris Ketchmark]

-WWE issued a press release regarding their role as a founding partner of the 2014 Special Olympics. "WWE is proud to serve as a Founding Partner of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games and utilize our global platforms to bring more attention to the accomplishments of so many determined and extraordinary athletes,” said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. "WWE, its Superstars and employees look forward to being a part of these important events." Read the full press release at Corporate.WWE.com.

-The survivors of the real-life murder, torture, and kidnapping case that The Rock's next big screen release Pain & Gain was inspired by are upset that the movie is a comedy. " Retired Miami-Dade Police Sgt. Felix Jimenez sounded off on it. "You are talking about real people," he told the Associated Press. "And in this particular case, especially when you're talking about the murder victims, these were innocent victims." The film will be released in theaters on April 26. Read the full story on the controversy at Yahoo.com. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Amanda J]

-There are no pro wrestling matches listed for ESPN Classic tonight.
