TNA Impact Wrestling live again, Dot Net Weekly and Dot Net Membership sale, London Fletcher receives WWE title belt, Mean Gene Okerlund, Jerry "The King" Lawler, JBL, AWA Wrestling on ESPN Classic
Nov 29, 2012 - 09:00 AM

By Chris Shore

-After a two week run of taped shows, TNA Impact Wrestling returns to a live show again tonight. It's Championship Thursday with Hulk Hogan deciding who will face Rob Van Dam for the X Division Championship, plus deals with the new knowledge of Brooke's relationship with Bully Ray. Jon Chris Shore for live coverage of the show as it airs on SpikeTV starting at 7:00 p.m. CT.

-Dot Net Members will be listening to the Dot Net Weekly audio show later today. Jason Powell and Chris Shore will be discussing all the news of the week, including The Shield, Cody Rhodes, TLC, and more. There's never been a better time to become a Dot Net member as we have a sale going on right now. You can learn more about how you can save over 15 percent off Dot Net Membership at http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/dotnetnotebook/article10028509.shtml.

-London Fletcher of the Washington Redskins is the latest winner of the 4th and Pain Championship. Fletcher says he was introduced to the word "jobber" by former WWE Talent Relations VP John Laurinaitis, and list Ric Flair and Ronnie Garvin as two of his favorite wrestlers. You can see the video presentation at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z0QaFFQvxM&feature=youtu.be&t=5m23s.

-Former WWE/WCW announcing legend Eugene "Mean Gene" Okerlund turns 70 years old today. Okerlund got his start in the AWA and is often forgotten as the man who held the microphone when Booker T called Hulk Hogan the n-word in a classic wrestling botch. Okerlund was last seen winning a tag team match with Sheamus in April of this year.

-WWE Hall of Famer, and recent heart attack survivor, Jerry "The King" Lawler turns 63 today. Lawler's age is just one of the many angles that makes his survival and rapid return from a heart attack suffered on the air on September 10 that much more amazing. Lawler returned to color commentary on Monday Night Raw just nione weeks later on November 12.

-Making a case for the belief that you have to be born on this date to do announcing for WWE, current WWE announcer JBL (a/k/a John Charles Layfield) turns 46 today. JBL returned to the announce booth as a temporary replacement for Jerry Lawler, and has stayed on to become the full time color commentator on Smackdown with Josh Matthews.

-The AWA Wrestling show on ESPN Classic airs at 11:00 p.m. CT tonight. The listing reads: Alaskans vs. White, Buck Zumhoff; Bruiser Brody vs. Davey Richards; Gatner vs. Sgt. Slaughter; Curt Hennig vs. Stan Hansen (World Heavyweight Title).
