-Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker made his pro wrestling debut at a benefit event for homeless veterans at the Hapeville Recreation Center outside Atlanta, Ga. Rocker teamed with Rocky King and defeated the team of Mr. Hughes and Chris Silvers , who were managed by Dave Wills. Rocker pinned Silvers following a clothesline.
"Rocker and King were cheered heavily by the racially diverse crowd in attendance," reports a correspondent. That's worth noting considering that Rocker made headlines for controversial comments that were widely regarded as racist, homophobic, and sexist. The guy was Kenny Powers before there was a Kenny Powers.
Rocker is scheduled to return to the ring at the same venue. The date has not been officially set, but the show is expected to take place in November. Rocker will face Mr. Hughes, managed by Dave Wills, in the main event of the show. We'll let you know once the date is set.
-Chris Jericho and his Fozzy bandmates will appear at an in-store signing at Sound Check Hollywood on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. local time. The venue is located at 8872 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, California. Fans who attend the signing must purchase the bands album "Sin and Bones" to gain entry.
-Former WWE wrestler Lanny Poffo will be making his New York stage debut at promotional night for the documentary film "Theresa Sareo: Alive Again." Poffo appears in the film along with actor Gary Sinise and Saturday Night Live band member Shawn Pelton. The promotional event takes place on October 5 at Gizzi's in New York. Poffo will be performing poetry, telling road stories, and take part in a Q&A meet and greet. There is no cover charge to attend the event. For more information, visit Gizzisnyc.com.
-Vintage Pro Wrestling is running in Sanford, Fla. on October 13 at the Sanford Salvation Army Gym at 700 West 24th Street. The show is headlined by a Florida Rumble match and Francisco Ciatso vs. Eric Cooper. For more information on the show, visit Vintagewrestlingfl.com.
-There are no pro wrestling shows on ESPN Classic tonight. The AWA show will return on Friday morning at 4:00 a.m. CT, so get the DVRs ready if you enjoy the show. We'll have the listed matches tomorrow in Dot Net Daily.
