WWE Raw 1000 preview, The Rock returns, DX reunion, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, legends returning, notes on Shawn Michaels, Kenny King, Fabulous Moolah, Johnny Curtis, Al Perez, AWA on ESPN Classic
Jul 23, 2012 - 09:00 AM

By Jason Powell

-WWE Raw 1000 takes place tonight in St. Louis, Mo. at Scottrade Center. The show will open with DX at the new 7:00 p.m. CT start time. WWE is advertising Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but I suspect we'll see other former DX members such as The New Age Outlaws and Sean "X-Pac" Waltman tonight based on Jerry Lawler hyping that they will "all" be there.

-Join me for live coverage of Raw 1000 tonight as the show airs on USA Network and you will have a chance to win one of the three memberships we'll be giving away during the show. Current members are eligible to have their membership extended by the length of the prize duration.

-WWE is also advertising that The Rock will appear live in St. Louis for the first time in nine years. Plus, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will appear to respond to Triple H's challenge for a SummerSlam match. Christian will defend the Intercontinental Title, plus Daniel Bryan and A.J. will be married, and a permanent general manager will be revealed.

-We are looking for correspondents for tonight's WWE Raw 1000 show and Tuesday's WWE Smackdown taping in Kansas City, Mo. If you are going to either show and want to help, contact me at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-A number of names from the past will appear on tonight's Raw show. Bret Hart is advertised as appearing in St. Louis for the first time in over 15 years. Plus, Road Dogg, X-Pac, Roddy Piper, Jim Ross, and Road Warrior Animal are among the big names from the past who are confirmed for the show.

-Dot Net Members will be following along with live coverage on the ad-free version of the website and listening to an exclusive audio review of Monday's Raw later tonight. Join us on the ad-free version of the website by signing up for membership now via Prowrestling.net/amember/signup.php.

-For those who missed it yesterday, Shawn Michaels turned 47 on Sunday. He was born on July 22, 1965.

-Recent TNA X Division addition Kenny King turned 31 on Sunday. He was born on July 22, 1981. King was the subject of controversy recently due to the way he left Ring of Honor while one-half of the company's tag champions. He has stated that he would have returned to drop the title belts, but ROH wasted no time in announcing that they would no longer do business with him.

-WWE wrestler Johnny Curtis celebrated his 25th birthday on Sunday. He was born on July 22, 1987.

-The late Fabulous Moolah (a/k/a Mary Lillian Ellison) would have been 89 on Sunday. She was born on July 22, 1923. She died on November 2, 2007. Her daughter believes the cause of death was either a heart attack or a blood clot related to a shoulder surgery. Moolah was the first female wrestler to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 1995.

-Retired pro wrestler Al Perez is 52 today. He was born on July 23, 1960. Al's Wikipedia page notes that he works for UPS and does concrete work, but there's no word on how recent that update is.

-The AWA television show airs on ESPN Classic tonight at 11:00 p.m. CT with the following matches listed: The Lumberjacks vs. Burton and Bennett, Texas Hangmen vs. Carlson and Evans, The Trooper vs. Magnum, Sgt. Slaughter vs. Jonnie Stewart.
