WWE Smackdown taping in San Diego featuring The Peep Show and Rey Mysterio, WWE 13 Stone Cold edition, Mike Knox, Daffney, Lacey Von Erich, Edouard Carpentier
Jul 17, 2012 - 09:00 AM

By Jason Powell

-WWE Smackdown will be taped tonight in San Diego, California at Valley View Casino. The show will feature the Smackdown return of Rey Mysterio, and Christian will host The Peep Show with special guests Daniel Bryan and A.J. We are looking for correspondents for tonight's taping.

-Dot Net Members are listening to my 48-minute audio review of WWE Raw, and the 81-minute audio review of WWE Money in the Bank that Chris Shore and I recorded on Sunday night. Join us on the ad-free version of the website by signing up for membership now via Prowrestling.net/amember/signup.php.

-The dark main event for tonight's WWE Smackdown taping is Big Show and John Cena vs. John Cena and Rey Mysterio. Plus, Triple H is advertised for an appearance. If it's anything like his recent appearances at the Smackdown taping, it will be a brief appearance that won't end up airing on television.

-THQ announced that they will be selling a Steve Austin collector's edition of the WWE '13 video game through their online store. The edition will feature Austin packaging, collectable art card autographed by Austin, exclusive austin in-game attire and ATV entrance, and more. For more details, visit WWE.com/inside/thq/wwe-13/wwe-13-collectors-edition-to-feature-stone-cold-steve-austin. [Thanks to Dot Net readers Juan Mariscal and John Siino]

-Former WWE wrestler Mike Knox is 34 today. He was born on July 17, 1978. He worked a TNA Xplosion match and a dark match at the May 14-15 Impact Wrestling tapings. Could he be part of Aces and Eights?

-Former TNA Knockout Daffney (a/k/a Shannon Spruill) is 37 today. She was born on July 17, 1975. She was released by the company in March 2011, and she has a workman's compensation lawsuit case against the company that is still pending.

-Former TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich is 26 today. She was born on July 17, 1986. She left the company in November 2010.

-Late pro wrestling legend Edouard Carpentier was born on this date in 1926. He died on October 30, 2010 of a heart attack at age 84.

-There are no pro wrestling shows listed for ESPN Classic tonight.
