WWE Raw tonight, catching up on a busy weekend of news, 10-year anniversary of wrestling satire website, Jerry Lawler comic book note, AWA on ESPN Classic match listing
Aug 18, 2008 - 09:07 AM |
-WWE Raw takes place tonight in Chicago, Ill. at Allstate Arena. It's a homecoming for C.M. Punk, so one can only assume that the hometown champion will play a big part in tonight's show. WWE has yet to release any info regarding tonight's show, so check back throughout the day for updates.
-Newsday.com "Steel Cage" blogger Alfonso Castillo and I reviewed the SummerSlam pay-per-view for nearly 89 minutes last night. Dot Net Members have access to the extended edition of the audio update, while users of the ad-based version of the site got the first 20 minutes. To gain instant access to the extended version and all the other Dot Net Member perks for only $5 per month, visit the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.
-For those of you who check out early on Fridays and don't check the website over the weekend because you're away enjoying the final weekends of summer, this was actually a newsworthy weekend. Triple H granted a rare interview to Slam Wrestling in which he was critical of younger wrestlers who don't have as much passion as he did when he was in their position. He also claimed that moving to Smackdown "really screws me personally." Check the main page listings in the WWE News section for a full report and a link to the interview.
-In other weekend news, Umaga is out four to six weeks with a strained PCL injury. He suffered the injury during a recent house show match when he landed on his knee at ringside.
-Colin Delaney returned to the indy scene just hours after WWE announced that he'd been released from his contract.
-By the way, I post links to the top news stories of the week every Sunday morning. So if you don't check the site every day and may have missed a story, you can always catch up on Sundays. You can check out the latest Weekly News Review by clicking here.
-Satire website ScoopThis.com is back online to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their launch. You can check it out by clicking here. Whatever happened to Dusty the Fat Bitter Cat anyway?
-Headlocked creator Michael Kingston is offering a 40 percent off retailer discount on the special edition of "Headlocked" with the Jerry Lawler cover for any independent promotions interested in buying copies to sell or use for promotional giveaways. E-mail headlockedcomic@yahoo.com by Thursday August 22 for more information.
-The following matches are listed for tonight's AWA on ESPN Classic show: W.T. Jones and John Pistulka vs. The Lumberjacks, George Anderson vs. The Russian Brute, Tommy Jammer vs. Tom Stone, Johnnie Stewart and Mike Enos vs. Steve Bergh and Mike Braham, Larry Zbyszko vs. D.J. Peterson.
