WWE Smackdown/ECW tapings, Jim Ross responds to Paul Heyman, NFL great attended Impact, Kevin Nash, WWE Raw returning to Minneapolis
Jul 1, 2008 - 08:58 AM

-WWE is taping Smackdown and ECW in Tulsa, Oklahoma tonight. It's another homecoming for Jim Ross, as he served as the play-by-play voice of the UWF, which ran regularly in the Tulsa Convention Center. It should be a noteworthy show, as the company will likely set up a number of post-draft feuds. Anyone who attends the show is encouraged to send a report to us at dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-Ross responded to Paul Heyman's recent UK Sun blog, which claimed Ross should not have been surprised that Vince McMahon moved him to Smackdown. "Recently I had to look up the definition of what a "Faustian Bargain" [Heyman used that term in his blog] meant. I think that’s the first time that I recall the words 'J.R.' and 'Faustian Bargain' were ever used in the same sentence. Unique analogy to say the least."

Ross also commented on the modern day NWA, Jake Roberts, and the opening of his newest restaurant. To read the full blog, visit JRsBarBQ.com.

-Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison attended Impact last week while vacationing in Orlando. No shots were fired. To read a story about his visit, check out TNAWrestling.com.

-Kevin Nash discussed the differences in the WWE and TNA schedules during an interview with the NBC affiliate in Houston on Sunday. "As guys get older, they want to spend more time with their kids at home," Nash said. "The schedule that the WWE does is very demanding. It's a young man's game and people like me (wrestling) six, seven times a month is perfect." [Courtesy of James Caldwell of PWTorch.com.

-WWE is advertising the following matches for the Aug. 4 house show in Macon, Ga.: Triple H vs. Big Show for the WWE Title, Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin.

-Local readers will be happy to know that WWE Raw is coming to the Target Center in Minneapolis. They will be taping Smackdown the next night in Green Bay. Here's hoping the Cheeseheads are over their Week 1 loss to the Vikings by then.

-The ESPN website did not provide a listing for tonight's AWA on ESPN Classic matches.
