-I hope everyone in the United States is enjoying the Fourth of July holiday weekend. I'm getting a much earlier start that usual today because I plan to make this as much of a three-day weekend as possible. I will be updating the site throughout the weekend, but the updates may be a less frequent barring a major news story breaking.
-Rich Twilling and I posted the Dot Net Weekly audio show yesterday due to the Fourth of July holiday scheduling. We ran through all the news of the week including the big WWE trade, the influx of developmental talent on ECW, and where the brands stand after all the moves. Plus, we discussed the arrests of Roddy Piper and Brian Lawler, TNA roster moves, and much more in the 91-minute audio session.
-I will be posting the second part of the weekly Q&A audio later today. Plus, Dot Net members are listening to over 100 minutes of audio I recorded with Konnan. You can score access to all Dot Net Audio for only $5 per month by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.
-WWE Smackdown is headlined by C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy teaming for a match against Chris Jericho and Edge. It's such a shame that this show isn't airing on Monday nights in place of the tired Raw show. If you're not watching Smackdown, you're missing out on the best pro wrestling show on television. Chris Shore will be covering the show live tonight, and Marvin Hermanstyne will be checking in with his report after the show.
-WWE kicked off it's latest overseas tour with a show in New Zealand last night. The tour includes stops in Australia, Japan, and the Philippines. We are looking for reports from all the overseas events. If you attend one of the shows, send a report to dotnetjason@gmail.com.
-Just a reminder that the Ring of Honor show will not air tomorrow night on HDNet. The network is airing special programming for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The show is on the schedule for next Saturday night in its usual time slot.
-TNA is selling a seven-year plaque that features a photo of Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, Vince Russo, and a total of 21 veterans from the original TNA Asylum days in Nashville. All 21 performers have autographed the plaque, and the ad claims that only 50 are being sold. The price is $299.00 at ShopTNA.com.
-The following matches are listed for the 2:00 p.m. airing of the AWA on ESPN Classic show: Yuri Gordyenko and Alexis Smirnoff vs. Bald Eagle and Sanchez, Greg Gagne vs. Tony Leoni, Col. DeBeers vs. M. Richards, Larry Zbyszko vs. Sweat, Leon "Big Van Vader" White vs. Gartner. The show will also air tonight at 10 p.m. CT.
