-The featured match of WWE Main Event is World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Cody Rhodes in a non-title match. Join Ryan Kester for live coverage of WWE Main Event as the show airs on ION Network tonight at 7:00 p.m. CT.

-WWE Hall of Famer Bob Backlund is 64 today. He was born on August 14, 1949. Backlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year. His presenter was celebrity and friend Maria Menounos.

-The late Gino Hernandez (a/k/a Charles Wolfe, Jr.) was born on this date in 1957. "The Handsome Half-Breed" was a star in Texas for World Class Championship Wrestling as well as the Southwest Championship Wrestling territories. He died of a cocaine overdose on February 2, 1986.

-Bobby Eaton is 55 today. He was born on August 14, 1958. Eaton was one-half of the Midnight Express tag team with partners Dennis Condrey and later Stan Lane. He is unquestionably one of the greatest tag wrestlers in the history of the business, and I remain hopeful that this will be the year that The Midnight Express and Jim Cornette are inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

-The late Eddie Gilbert (a/k/a Thomas Edward Gilbert) was born on this date in 1961. He died on February 18, 1995 due to a heart attack following a long battle with substance abuse. He was married to Missy Hyatt in 1988. He was also a booker for Eastern Championship Wrestling prior to Paul Heyman, and he also booked for Continental Wrestling Federation with Heyman as his assistant.

-Jeff Farmer is 51 today. He was born on August 14, 1962. Farmer's most high profile role was as the NWO version of Sting, which he played in WCW and for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He also worked as Cobra in WCW.

-Global Supercard Wrestling airs on ESPN Classic late night from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. CT. There are no matches or wrestlers listed for those shows. ESPN Classic is also replaying the only football game I have ever attended inside a luxury box (free tickets). The hysterical 2005 Wisconsin Badgers 38-34 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers will air at 11:00 a.m. CT tomorrow. Even though I'm a Gophers fan, I couldn't help help but laugh at the way they found a way to lose this game.
