-There are two pay-per-views this weekend with ROH's "Take No Prisoners" debuts on In Demand tonight. It's a loaded two-hour show with a $9.95 to $14.95 price tag (check local prices). Check the main listing for the lineup shortly. Meanwhile, WWE is in San Diego on Sunday for the One Night Stand show. I will be covering both shows this weekend, and will have "Live Coverage" of the WWE show on Sunday night.
-It's a quiet weekend on the house show front with WWE, TNA, and Ring of Honor all off.
-Barack Obama and John McCain responded to WWE's "Voter Issues Paper." Hillary Clinton previously responded to the questions. Check out WWE.com to read their answers.
-ExiteXC debuts on CBS on Saturday night with Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson, Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith, and Gina Carano (a/k/a Crush from "American Gladiators") vs. Kaitlin Young.
-The Hogans received another round of negative publicity in Daniel Ruth's Tampa Tribune column. "In recent days, tapes of this product of inner-sniveling have surfaced, capturing jailhouse conversations between his gene pool from hell—phony wrestler Hulk Hogan and his mother Linda Bollea, who makes Joan Crawford look like Rose Kennedy," writes Ruth. You can read the full column by clicking here.
I don't dispute anything Ruth wrote about the Hogans. However, this isn't the first time he's used the tired "phony wrestler" description. Is there a reason he didn't refer to Crawford as a phony actress?
-NWA Champion Adam Pearce will not be appearing on the 60th Anniversary Show on June 7. He is working for Ring of Honor that night in Philadelphia. His name was originally listed on some advertising for the NWA show, but I was told yesterday that he will not make the Atlanta show.
-Dot Net reader John Dupont sent me a note yesterday to say that he and some other KafabeMemories.com message board users are discussing the idea of holding a Mid-South/UWF reunion in the Shreveport, La. area. However, the project is still in the brainstorming stage. Sounds like a great idea to me. I'm still waiting for someone to step up and hold a full-fledged AWA reunion in the Twin Cities.
-The following matches are listed for tonight's AWA on ESPN Classic show: Ali Khan vs. Luca, Cousin Luke vs. Tony Leone, Manny Fernandez vs. Koorijion, Badd Company squash, Jerry Lawler vs. Soldat Ustinov vs. the AWA Title. The show was taped on June 19, 1988.
