Floyd Mayweather’s backstage behavior, Lindsay Lohan, looking for Smackdown taping results
By Jason Powell Feb 20, 2008 - 08:40 AM

-Floyd Mayweather is said to be quiet and reserved backstage. He’s friendly when approached, but he primarily keeps to himself and spends most of his time hanging out with his entourage. Although he’s somewhat aloof, he has also impressed people with his professionalism when it’s time for business. News Usage Policy

-Speaking of Mayweather, he was named the Boxing Writers Association of America fighter of the year on Tuesday. "It's always a blessing to get an award of this magnitude," he told ESPN.com. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Jason Campbell]

-In case you missed it yesterday, Prowrestling.net broke the news late Monday night that Rey Mysterio will is scheduled for surgery on Friday to repair his torn biceps muscle. He will not be able to wrestle at WrestleMania 24. He is hoping to return in four months, but he could miss up to six months. Mysterio was at the Smackdown tapings last night in his hometown of San Diego.

-We are still looking for a report on the Smackdown tapings. If you attended the show last night, please send a report to dotnetjason@gmail.com.

-Today’s poll question: Should WWE wrestlers who die on the job (such as Owen Hart) automatically be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? You are also welcome to send me a paragraph or two with your comments on the subject for possible publication here on Dot Net.

-The voting was tight on the Mayweather followup poll we posted yesterday. 32 percent of voters said they felt the Raw followup was letdown, 28 percent felt the followup was just as good as the PPV angle, 15 didn't see the original angle and thought it was an overhyped letdown, 14 percent didn’t see the angle and liked what they saw on Raw, and 11 percent of the voters said the PPV angle didn’t do much for them in the first place. As I noted in the Raw Hitlist yesterday, there was no way WWE could top what they did at No Way Out and I was happy they didn’t try.

Daily Nuggets

Access Hollywood ran a story about Lindsay Lohan’s backstage appearance at Monday’s Raw. The story notes that the actress met with children who were backstage with Canada’s Sunshine Foundation. “We have worked with WWE many times and they have always bent over backwards to arrange meetings and events for our kids,” noted a Sunshine Foundation employee.

-Ed Hellier is promoting an Steel Domain Wrestling show on March 1 in Brookings, S.D. The show features A.J. Styles, Christian, Abyss, Black Machismo, James Storm, and Leny Lane. The flyer for the show notes that it is not open to the public. It also notes that 100 complimentary cases of beer will be served at the event. Now that’s one wrestling event I’d love to attend. No word yet whether the event is being sponsored by a local cab company that will give away the beer but charge $200 for a cab ride home. Actually, the flyer indicates that it’s a private company event.

-This weekend’s Memphis Wrestling television primarily consisted of rerun matches. Jerry Lawler was interviewed by phone and hyped his upcoming tag match with Bill Dundee in Savannah, Tenn. and an appearance at a local grocery store.

-Combat Zone Wrestling issued a press release on Tuesday to announce a DVD distribution deal with Locomotive Vision. The release notes that CZW’s first title will be available in retail stores “by this summer.” To read the full press release, visit CZWwrestling.com.
