-The big UFC press conference takes place later today via conference call. UFC president Dana White is expected to announce the signings of multiple fighters, and should share additional details on the ESPN deal the company has signed for overseas television deals. I'm sure he'll also provide an update on the Fedor contract negotiations.
-We are looking for correspondents from all the WWE events this weekend. If you are attending one of the WWE house show events and can help with a report, contact me at dotnetjason@gmail.com.
-The main event of tonight's WWE Smackdown features Jeff Hardy defending the World Hvt. Championship against John Morrison. Dot Net contributor Chris Shore will be covering the show live tonight on the site, and I'll post the spoilers and a non-spoiler preview momentarily.
-WWE has a whopping eight house shows advertised for this weekend. The Raw crew is in Newark, Del. tonight with the usual crew. The only notable exception from the lineup page is that Triple H is not advertised.
-The WWE Smackdown crew is in Hampton Beach, N.H. tonight: Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title, and John Morrison vs. C.M. Punk. It's worth noting that Jeff Hardy is not advertised for this show.
-WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat is advertised for Saturday's WWE event in Cohasset, Mass. It does not say whether he's going to wrestle on the show, but he has been making some in-ring appearances lately. Hardy is not listed on this show either, so I assume he has the weekend off.
-The TNA and Ring of Honor crews have the weekend off.
-Tonight's Friday Night Fantasy event at First Avenue in Minneapolis features a loaded lineup of female wrestling talent. The list includes Molly Holly, Victoria (a/k/a Tara), Christy Hemme, Sojo Bolt, Daffney, Awesome Kong, and Sunny. Plus, Jonny Fairplay and his wife Michelle from America's Next Top Model are on the show.
-Eric Bischoff has posted a new blog at EBischoff.blogspot.com regarding his proposed tax on fat people. No, really!
-The following matches are listed for the 2:00 p.m. airing of the AWA on ESPN Classic: Knight and Ruez vs. Midnight Rockers, Bruiser Brody vs. White, Col. DeBeers vs. Nick Bockwinkel.
-The following matches are listed for the 10 p.m. airing of the AWA on ESPN Classic: The Lumberjacks vs. WT Jones and John Pistulka, George Anderson vs. Russian Brute, Tom Stone vs. Tommy Jammer, Steve Bergh and Mike Braham vs. Johnnie Stewart and Mike Enos, D.J. Peterson and Larry Zbyszko. The show was taped on July 23, 1990.
