Dot Net Awards: 2012 Best Female Act
Feb 9, 2013 - 01:25 PM

Dot Net readers voted on a variety of 2012 awards throughout the month of January. The following are the results of our poll for Best Female Act. Thanks to everyone who took part in the voting. You can check out the past winners in our Awards section.

(1) A.J. Lee: 66 percent
(2) Eve: 6 percent
(3) Vickie Guerrero: 4 percent
(4) Miss Tessmacher: 3 percent
(5) Velvet Sky: 3 percent
Others: 18 percent

Ryan Kester's Thoughts: This wasn’t even close. I agree with the voters on their pick of AJ Lee. Eve performed as a good champion and Vickie Guererro continued to do her impressive heel act, but AJ had a memorable breakout year that saw her become a fixture in many of WWE’s main stories of 2012.

Jake Barnett’s Thoughts: AJ Lee deserves a lot of credit for having an amazing 2012. I know quite a few people have written me over the year to say they are getting fatigued of the crazy chick act, and I agree that it has its limits, but it was a total break out surprise at the beginning and I’ve really enjoyed all but the most outlandish moments. The element of surprise was a major factor in this, and for that reason alone I think it’s one of the more original ideas WWE had throughout the year.

Jason Powell's Thoughts: I agree with AJ's landslide victory in the voting. She was the hottest female act that WWE has had in years. Whether she was jumping from one guy to the next or serving a special referee for pay-per-view title matches or working as the general manager or finally settling on Dolph Ziggler at the end of the year, she was involved in countless major WWE storylines. Eve was the best part of the actual Divas division. That's not saying much, but she was skilled in the ring and played her character very well after years of mostly forgettable babyface work. Vickie continues to be a great story and she still gets a huge reaction for the same act she's played for years now. There was a time when I thought Tessmacher would push for the No. 2 spot behind A.J., but she peaked with her Knockouts Title win and failed to click during her run as champion.

Will Pruett's Thoughts: If I were judging this award based on the first half of 2012, it would be a close race between A.J. Lee and Brooke Tessmacher. Sadly, both women produced very mixed results in the second half of the year. This opens up the race for a woman who was consistently an exciting and dynamic character in 2012, Eve. Whether she was being bullied by John Cena and Zack Ryder, manipulating Teddy Long and Booker T, or dominating the Diva's division (as the only fully formed character in it), Eve had an amazing 2012. If Eve had come along in 2002, we would be discussing her as one of the best WWE Divas of all time.

Chris Shore's Thoughts: This is the only category where I felt like someone ran away with it. Not one single woman had a year that even came close to AJ. Eve had the best year as far as an active wrestler is concerned, but even that paled in comparison. I don't know why AJ exploded like she did. Kissing a bunch of different guy is apparently more over than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I was entertained by her. In fact, she was the best thing on TV for a long time. But at the same time, I never would have expected that the smallest woman on the WWE roster would have been the one who was the biggest star at any point in time.
