Dot Net Awards: 2008 Best Tag Team
Feb 4, 2009 - 01:50 PM

Dot Net readers voted on a variety of 2008 awards throughout January. The results will be posted today. The following are the poll results of the Best Tag Team category.

(1) The Miz and John Morrison: 62 percent
(2) James Storm and Bobby Roode: 9 percent
(3) Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin: 8 percent
(4) LAX: 5 percent
(5) Cryme Tyme: 3 percent

Others: Five nominees split 13 percent of the vote.

Rich Twilling's thoughts: I would love to vote for Kevin Steen and El Generico here, and they are my second place pick, but The Miz and John Morrison are the clear cut winners. It is a shame WWE does not want to get behind the tag team titles because these two guys would be the team to lead the pack. Heck, if Vince McMahon did not book The Legion of Doom vs. Demolition at Wrestlemania VII, he is never going to give a shit about the tag straps. Although I am not a huge fan, you have to give credit where it is due, and Beer Money rounds out my top three.

Jason Powell's thoughts: The Miz and John Morrison were everywhere in 2008. They appeared on all three WWE brands, and I believe they even appeared on four shows in one week when the company aired the Tribute to the Troops show on NBC. It's a shame that WWE doesn't have a great babyface tag team for them to work with, but I enjoy watching them work. They're not just two singles guys who work tag matches. They are a true tag team. My second place vote goes to Kevin Steen and El Generico. The live crowds rallied behind Steen and Generico more than any babyface tag team in wrestling. They would have given Miz and Morrison a run for their money in the reader voting if ROH had more exposure. Maybe next year. Third place goes to LAX. They were a consistently strong act throughout the year, whereas Beer Money came on strong late, and the Machine Guns were under utilized throughout most of the year.
