WWE News: Pay-per-view buy totals released for WrestleMania, Extreme Rules, Payback, and Money in the Bank
2014-07-31 08:32:44

The following information was released by WWE in their second quarter earnings report for 2013.

-The April WrestleMania 30 pay-per-view drew 690,000 buys compared to 1,039,000 buys for WrestleMania 29. WrestleMania 28 produced 1,217,000 buys, WrestleMania 27 scored 1,059,000 buys.

-The May Extreme Rules pay-per-view drew 108,000 buys. The 2013 event produced 231,000 buys. The 2012 version of the event scored 263,000 buys, Extreme Rules 2011 produced 209,000 buys, and the 2010 version of the show scored 182,000 buys.

-The June Payback pay-per-view produced 67,000 buys. The same event drew 186,000 buys in 2012.

-June's Money in the Bank pay-per-view produced 122,000 buys. The previous year's MITB event was held in July and drew 199,000 buys.

Powell's POV: Keep in mind that the 2014 numbers are simply pay-per-view purchase numbers and do not include WWE Network subscriptions. Furthermore, DirecTV, Dish Network, and some cable systems dropped WWE pay-per-view events after WrestleMania 30. The press release for the second quarter financial numbers states that there was a $13.2 million decline in pay-per-view revenue, yet states that it was offset by a 13 percent increase in WWE Network revenue.
