WWE News: Latest WWE Network subscriber count revealed, launching world wide, unique approach in Canada, platform expansion in August
WWE announced the latest WWE Network subscriber count as 700,000. The number is up from the 667,000 subscribers the network had on April 7 (the day after WrestleMania 30). WWE also announced that they plan to take WWE Network worldwide on August 12. The company will also launch the network on several smart televisions and blu-ray players in mid-August.
Powell's POV: WWE's financial report is boasting that they added 161,000 new subscribers since April 6, which would mean they lost 128,000 subscribers. The key for WWE is expansion into new countries if they still hope to reach the one million subscriber count by the end of the year. The move into Canada is interesting in that they are partnering with Rogers Communications to present the network as a "traditional a-la-carte pay-TV channel."
