WWE News: Forbes article looks at what happens to WWE revenues when John Cena is champion
Forbes.com has an article examining the effect John Cena has on WWE revenues when he is champion, the analysis, which the writer admits is far from scientific, does show a general decline in revenues whenever John Cena is champion and a relatively quick reversal of that trend whenever he drops the title. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Tim Jousma]
Shore's Slant: The article is an interesting read, but I wouldn't put too much stock in what the findings show. As the writer admits, there are a lot of things that contribute to WWE revenues outside of what happens in the ring. That said, perhaps the most fascinating thing was that the company generally shows upward trends in revenue whenever Randy Orton is champion, and that the long title run of CM Punk showed big declines and increases in revenue.
