Shore's WWE Smackdown Hit List: Poor story telling but some good matches, Seth Rollins is still aggressive, Mark Henry goes after Rusev, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton create the wrong vibe, and more

WWE Smackdown Hits

Goldust and Stardust vs. Luke Harper and Eric Rowan: A Hit for the match and nothing else. I still don't think the Stardust character is working, but I've beaten that horse to death. It looks like we will get at least a triple threat match for the tag titles at Night of Champions. I prefer that to a gauntlet sort of mess with too many teams being involved. These two teams and the Usos have had great chemistry together in their various forms, and I think they could have a successful triple threat at the PPV.

Seth Rollins vs. Jack Swagger: Another match Hit with a crappy story around it. I do like Rollins's aggressive attitude. He needed to do more to draw heat on his own as opposed to getting blowback from Ambrose and he did a good job here. I don't understand why they moved away from Swagger and Rusev so quickly, but more than that I don't understand why they are putting Bo Dallas with Swagger. More on both of those below.

Rusev and Mark Henry: Henry and Rusev should be a fun feud to watch. It's nice to see Rusev show a little ass. Yes, he sold for Swagger, but you never got the feeling Swagger was manhandling him like Rusev had so many people before. With Henry, it's a totally different feel. You believe Henry can squash Rusev just as easily as Rusev has squashed, or crushed if you will, others. I don't actually expect Henry to do so in a match. Rusev should, and more than likely will, remain undefeated after this feud. But that doesn't mean some of the in-between action can't sell Henry along the way.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Randy Orton and Roman Reigns: WWE, please get Roman Reigns away from Randy Orton. The very good short documentary WWE just released for the Shield on the Network says Reigns is a sponge. Well he's sucking up all of Orton's bad qualities. He's not convincing in his promos, a little monotone, and far too confident in the ring. Yes, he is the epitome of cool, and I get why they are setting this up as a fire vs. fire type situation, but neither guy is really delivering. Reigns needs a big push to get to WrestleMania main event status before next year, and beating Miz back-to-back and laying out Orton with a chair isn't going to get there. Especially when Orton cuts the same robotic promos every single time. Reigns is getting over in spite of this feud, not because of it.

Paige and AJ Lee: This shit is dreadful. If you had told me six months ago that AJ Lee and Paige would have had a feud and it would have sucked I…well, I would have believed you because WWE can't get the Divas division right, but I still would be a little shocked. Both of these women are supremely talented, both in the ring and out, and all they seem to be doing is playing the One Up Crazy game. I don't get it. It makes your champion look week (first AJ and now Paige), and it doesn't really create the solid babyface/heel dynamic that great feuds are built on. WWE was handed filet mignon and black truffles and turned it into a mushroom burger. This who program is a miss and it is absolutely baffling.

Bo Dallas: Speaking of baffling, the stop and go bug has bitten Bo Dallas and it shows. I do think he's got the charisma and mic skills to salvage it if he isn't stopped again, but the only way to do that is to have him go over Swagger. Swagger has gotten over huge with the audience, so why feed him to Dallas? But if Dallas doesn’t win…see why this is a miss? Both of these guys deserve better right now and putting them together is a program that will only get token time cannot possibly lead to both guys gaining from the marriage. What a shame.
