ROH: Aftershock
Hopkins, Minnesota
Report by Dot Net reader Jason Biagi

New ROH World Champ Michael Elgin came out for a promo and stated that he wanted to defend his title tonight. He was interrupted by The Kingdom (Adam Cole, Matt Hardy, and Michael Bennett). Elgin said he brought backup too. Out came Raymond Rowe and "War Beard" Hanson, leading to a huge brawl. Elgin wanted their six man match started right away and it was.

1. Michael Elgin and War Machine fought Matt Hardy, Adam Cole, and Michael Bennett (w/Maria) to an apparent no-contest. Hardy tried to hit Elgin with his ICON title when Jay Briscoe stopped him. Briscoe had a face off with Elgin. Mark Briscoe joined in and with Elgin & War Machine destroyed Cole and Bennett while Hardy escaped. Elgin challenged Hardy to a ROH Title match and Hardy accepted.

There was a Fish Tank segment with Cheeseburger. Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly insulted Cheeseburger. One guy called Cheeseburger Chris Bosh, and Fish said he hated basketball. Fish challenged Cheeseburger to a match and put his half of the ROH Tag Titles on the line much to the dismay of O'Reilly.

2. Bobby Fish pinned Cheeseburger. Burger nearly pinned Fish several times until Fish got serious and kicked Burger in the head for the win. Red Dragon wanted to hit Chasing The Dragon on Burger, but Cedric Alexander attacked them. The Alexander vs. O'Reilly started.

3. Cedric Alexander pinned Kyle O'Reilly. Lots of near falls with constant running commentary from Fish. Cedric slipped on the ropes and took a nasty spill. He recovered to thwart Fish's interference and then hit his modified backbreaker finisher for the win. Good match.

4. Jay & Mark Briscoe beat Roderick Strong and BJ Whitmer (w/Taderious Thomas). Jay countered Strong's Strong Bow into a Jay Driller for the win. Afterwards, BJ tried to goad Thomas into attacking the Briscoes, which he eventually did.

Intermission.

5. ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal (w/Truth Martini) pinned Takaaki Watanabe. Martini assisted Lethal to hit a Lethal Injection on Watanabe for the win. The Romantic Touch distracted Lethal, and Matt Taven attacked Lethal and made a claim for the TV Title.

6. Kevin Steen pinned Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa hit Project Ciampa but damaged his knee. Steen twice locked in the Sharpshooter. Ciampa powered out but fell victim to the Package Piledriver and was pinned. Ciampa begrudgingly shook hands while Steen delivered a great farewell promo. Very classy.

7. Silas Young beat ACH, Matt Taven, and Tadarious Thomas. Thomas subbed for Jimmy Jacobs as a reward for attacking the Briscoes. Young pinned ACH after a backbreaker/lariat combo to ensure a TV Title match in August. Jacobs screamed at Thomas for failing to win but Thomas took the abuse and left with Jacobs.

8. ROH World Champion Michael Elgin beat Matt Hardy (w/Maria Kanellis). Hardy gave his ICON title to Maria as he anticipated winning the ROH Title. Hardy hit three straight Side Effects, but later Elgin hit the backfist and and locked in the Crossface. Later, Cole and Bennett attacked Elgin, prompting Rowe and Hanson to even the odds. Elgin hit a buckle bomb and a Spiral Bomb but Bennett knocked out the ref. The Briscoes came back to aid Elgin, but Elgin waved them off, wanting to win on his own. Cole superkicked Elgin into Hardy's Twist Of Fate from a very near fall. Hardy tried to hit the Twist again but got trapped in the Crossface and submitted.

Great card.
